Founder & CEO
Gretchen M. Holquist
Most of her life, Gretchen wanted to be a marketer. When Gretchen was young and living in Cincinnati, she found out that the CEO of P&G got a limo to take him to work, and she declared to her parents that she wanted to be CEO someday. In high school, she was lucky enough to have a business teacher suggest that she think about marketing as a career.
While attending Princeton, she studied economics. She loves the behavioral economics space because she’s fascinated about what makes people tick and why they make the decisions that they do. Gretchen believes that building great brands is about truly understanding your consumers and building your relationship with them. The greatest brands have a relationship with their customers that’s more than transactional, and know to earn that relationship continuously.
Gretchen has worked at General Mills, Johnson & Johnson, and Novartis/ GSK Consumer Health. She’s also worked in marketing consulting for over 5 years. As CEO of Bright Stories, she reports that her Toyota Sienna can hold almost as many people as a limo, but she’s typically the one who drives it.
